Have you ever wanted to add color to your drinks? Maybe you’re having an Alice in Wonderland themed party, or maybe you just want to be able to tell the difference between beer and mixed drinks at your next party. A beer dye table can help you achieve these goals, and when combined with the right accessories, you can make some beautiful and fun creations without having to worry about dyes fading away over time.
What You Need
What You’ll Need – Drill with a 3/8 inch drill bit – L-bracket at least 2 inches wide, long enough to cover up any seam on the tabletop (1 per table) – Metal epoxy paint in a color of your choice
Instructions 1. First, use the 3/8 inch drill bit and carefully drill four holes, evenly spaced out and around the perimeter of the tabletop.
Steps Before Painting and Adding the Dye
Preparing the wood
After you’ve found the perfect table for your needs, there are a few steps before painting and adding the dye. Start by thoroughly cleaning the tabletop with a non-toxic, dry cleaner like lemon juice or vinegar. Allow it to dry completely before proceeding. You’ll also want to cover any surfaces nearby with newspapers or plastic wrap to avoid getting them dirty during this process.
Prepping your space
The first step for prepping your space is all about preparation. Grab some rubber gloves, bleach and ammonia mixture, vinegar, and a large bowl. Fill the bowl with the cleaning solution and fill it up with water. Dip a rag in the solution and wipe down the entire surface of your table. Rinse the table off with water.
Pour on the paint (1st coat)
Don’t be alarmed if your paint starts looking uneven after applying the first coat. Most likely, it will start to even out on its own as you go for the second and third coats. This is especially true if you’re using top-quality paint that has additives that help it achieve a better finish.
Let it dry and sand (optional)
Now your table is ready for paint! Take a small bit of primer and do a light coating of it all over the table, let it dry, and sand down the table if you need to.
Pour on the second coat
You are now ready for the second coat of your dye. Pour it on, and let it sit for two minutes before wiping off the excess with a clean cloth. For a deeper shade, allow it to remain on the wood longer. Wipe off any extra residue, and rinse out your bucket before filling it with fresh water.
Finish off with a sealer coat
A sealer coat is what prevents a finish from wearing away, so your table will look like new for many years. I would recommend using high-quality polyurethane to keep the table in pristine condition. This can be applied with a roller or sprayed on with an airbrush depending on how thick you want the final coat.
